Product safety recalls are issued almost daily and it is imperative that consumers stay informed. The New York State Department of State's Division of Consumer Protection closely monitors toy and other juvenile product recalls and updates this website with information as soon as it becomes available. Additionally, the Division and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets closely monitor food safety recalls and post alerts as quickly as possible.
The Division, as the New York State designee to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission, conducts recall effectiveness sweeps to monitor the removal of recalled toys and other products from store shelves. The Division urges manufacturers to independently test toys before they bring them to market, and calls on retailers to prominently post recall information in their stores and online in a timely fashion.
