Federal Trade Commission's Identity Theft Site (FTC)
The FTC's website is a one-stop national resource for information on the crime of identity theft. It provides detailed information to help you avoid, detect, and defend against identity theft.

FBI & National White Collar Crime Center Internet Fraud Complaint Center
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a collaborative among the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The IC3 gives the victims of cyber crime a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities to suspected criminal or civil violations. For law enforcement and regulatory agencies at the federal, state, local and international level, IC3 provides a central referral mechanism for complaints involving Internet-related crimes.  

Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC)
The ITRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the understanding and prevention of identity theft. The ITRC provides consumer and victim support as well as public education.

Privacy Activism
Privacy Activism is a non-profit organization whose goal is to enable people to make well-informed decisions about the importance of privacy on both personal and social levels. The organization produces reports and flash animation videos about privacy issues.  

Privacy Rights Clearinghouse (PRC)
The PRC is a nonprofit consumer organization with a two-part mission -- consumer information and advocacy.

Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG)
APWG is an international industrial and law enforcement association focused on eliminating fraud and identity theft resulting from phishing, pharming and e-mail spoofing. 

Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT)
CDT works to promote democratic values and constitutional liberties in the digital age. It seeks practical solutions to enhance free expression and privacy in global communications technologies. CDT is dedicated to building consensus among all parties interested in the future of the Internet and other new communications media. 

Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility Privacy Working Group
CPSR is a global organization promoting the responsible use of computer technology. In 1986, CPSR expanded its national program to include Privacy and Civil Liberties. 

Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF)
EFF is a civil liberties group defending consumers’ rights in the digital world.

Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC)
EPIC is a public interest research center in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, the First Amendment, and constitutional values. 

On Guard Online
OnGuardOnline.gov provides practical tips from the federal government and the technology industry to help you guard against Internet fraud, improve your computer’s security, and protect your personal information. The site is maintained by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Connect Safely
ConnectSafely is a resource for parents, teens, educators and advocates interested in the impact of Web 2.0 social media. ConnectSafely also has a variety of social media safety tips for teens and parents, the latest youth-tech news, and many other resources. ConnectSafely.org is a project of Tech Parenting Group, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. 

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children helps prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation and find missing children. The organization offers NetSmartz411, a first-of-its-kind, online service that answers questions about Internet safety, computers, and the Web. NetSmartz411 is provided at no cost to the public. 

Web Wise Kids
Through state-of–the-art Internet safety computer games (based on real-life scenarios) and Internet safety tips for kids, teens and parents, Web Wise Kids creates a safe, friendly Internet experience. Web Wise Kids is run by a nonprofit organization committed to preventing online child victimization by providing innovative and effective tools to assist youth to stay safe online.

Berkeley Center for Law and Technology
The Center promotes understanding and advancement of intellectual property and related fields of law and policy as they intersect with business, science and technology. 

Carnegie Mellon Laboratory for International Data Privacy
The overall objective of the Data Privacy Lab is to provide intellectual leadership to society in shaping the evolving relationship between technology and the legal right to or public expectation of privacy in the collection and sharing of data.

Privacy Foundation
The Privacy Foundation publishes research and educates the public about technologies that affect personal privacy when improperly implemented. The Foundation is affiliated with the University of Denver.

Samuelson Law, Technology and Public Policy Clinic
The Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic at UC Berkeley Law School provides an opportunity for law students to represent clients and collaborate with graduate students on interdisciplinary research. Established in January 2001, the Samuelson Clinic was the first in the nation to provide students with the opportunity to represent the public interest in sound technology policy through client advocacy and participation in legislative, regulatory, litigation and technical standard setting activities.
