The New York State Department of State Division of Consumer Protection presents education and information sessions on a variety of current topics. Train-the-trainer programs are also offered for advocacy and grassroots groups, business associations, faith-based groups and professional service providers.

Once trained, organizations are provided with a tool kit to further assist their communities and constituencies. Each tool kit includes electronic versions of Division brochures and resources, as well as PowerPoint presentations for the participant's usage.

Groups can e-mail the CPB to start the presentation request process.

Below are examples from some of the Division's offerings. Some of these presentations are available in Spanish and Chinese. The Division's presentations can be customized according to the audience and are updated periodically to reflect demographic and policy changes. 

Credit and Credit Management: A Matter of Life and Debt
This presentation advises you on how to choose and use credit wisely, as well as why and how to check your credit report

Preventing and Responding to Identity Theft
This presentation provides strategies to help you address the harms from identity theft and prevent victimization

Keeping Safe Online for Kids
Children face security risks when surfing the Internet. This presentation teaches children how to keep safe online and safeguard their personal information. It also encourages children to engage their parents in their online "life"

What can you do to keep your e-mails, communications and online transactions secure? This presentation tackles this question and more. The most prevalent online scams are also highlighted

Stop, Think, Act: How to Recognize and Avoid Scams
Scams, frauds and hoaxes cost consumers and businesses time and billions of dollars each year. This presentation helps you recognize and avoid scams. It also presents tools and resources to utilize if you fall victim to a scam. It is also available in Spanish

Choosing a Private Career School
This presentation offers guidance in choosing a private career school, and highlights the value of choosing a licensed school. By choosing a licensed school, students have access to a formal complaint process which can include tuition reimbursement for aggrieved consumers

Do Not Call Compliance: A Seminar for Business
Collaboration with industry to help strengthen the marketplace and advance greater consumer protections is a hallmark of the Division's efforts. To that end, the Division has made this presentation available to assist companies with compliance with the Do Not Call Laws and regulations
